Year Established
Established in 2018, Second Chance Aspin Shelter Philippines Incorporated provided a home for strays, abused, and abandoned cats and dogs. Aspin or "Asong Pinoy" are Philippine native dogs, while Puspins ("Pusang Pinoy") are Philippine native cats. We strive to give them a second chance by preparing them for their furrever homes. Unfortunately, strays are rampant in the Philippines, and abandonment and cruelty are common. The shelter is located in Calamba, Laguna. Originally, SECASPI sheltered 40+ dogs and 20+ cats, but now has 50+ dogs. Costs of treatment, rehabilitation, and care are sustained solely through donations.
It started out as a halfway home for Ronald De Castro's rescued dog. It was originally known as Deparo Shelter, where Ronald rented a small place in Deparo.
SECASPI has been involved in spay and neuter, stray feeding programs, free vaccinations, and rescue missions. Some programs are sponsored by private partners.
Our shelter supports getting your pet neutered/spayed. It is a scientific fact that spayed or neutered pets show improvement in their behavior. Spaying and neutering pets lower their chances of getting cancers, infections, and other health problems. The ultimate benefit of neutering and spaying is population control.
